Everyone loves the colour blue. Almost half of men and women in the Western world choose blue as their favourite colour. It is a calming shade that can also be dramatic and inspire confidence. And given the popularity of denim in all of our wardrobes, everyone owns something blue. It also happens to be a key colour for Autumn/Winter 2014.
Indigo - This colour can be viewed as an alternative to black and should be used to frame and tone down other aspects of your outfit. Add embellished or metallic separates to bring out the depth to this shade. It works very well with brighter shades of blue such as cobalt and looks sophisticated with camel. To add in some brighter colours pair with poppy red or deep pink for a luxurious look.
Sapphire - Jewel tones are always a great way to wear colour in the Autumn/Winter season. It works wonderfully with black and, again, try it with other shades of blue for an on-trend take on the colour. Get yourself noticed by pairing sapphire with orange for a really bold colour statement.
Cobalt - Use this as an accent colour against charcoal and navy. Try colourblocking using layers of cherry red or mustard for a fresh take on this shade. Teal and cobalt are a striking colour combination too.
Turquoise - This shade is slightly toned down for AW14 but bold pastels were everywhere on the runway so don't be afraid to go bright. Again this pairs well with other shades of blue especially indigo and grey, lilac and red are also great partners.
Sky - This shade will breathe fresh air into a more muted AW14 palette. You can view it as a neutral and team with oranges and maroons for a grown-up look. For added luxury go with camel. This shade works well as a coat as seen at Gucci.
