It's Time to Party

It's nearly here. Christmas is on the horizon and before the Big Day arrives there is lots of partying to be done. Whether it's all out glamour for a Christmas wedding or just a few drinks with your friends, this really is the time to pull out all the stops and dress like you mean it.

My first party outfit suggestion is a jumpsuit. No, don't go. It's ok, jumpsuits won't hurt you, I promise. If this year is going to be your first foray into the world of the jumpsuit then keep it simple. A plain black style with a tapered leg will flatter most figures but just ensure you highlight your waist with a belt if you need some definition. In the outfit below I have picked a blue jumpsuit with a high halterneck. Careful with this kind of style if you have broad shoulders. Wear a long layered necklace to draw the eye down the front of the body and create length. Add some black and metallic accessories and you are ready to party.

Sparkle and shine is a must at this time of year and party season is a great time to try out a patterned trouser suit. The beauty of this type of outfit is that the jacket and trousers will work perfectly well on their own too to give you more versatility in your wardrobe. Wear the suit together with a simple cami underneath and keep your accessories to a minimum. Let the suit do the talking. Add a white or cream silk blouse to the trousers and you've got a sophisticated day to evening look and wear the jacket with anything from faux leather skinnies to distressed denim jeans for a fresh take on the shine trend.

The classic choice for partywear is the dress. Be it a little black dress, a red strapless dress or a sequin dress there is a reason why it is the outfit most of us choose come party season. If you have an amazing LBD that you feel fabulous in then by all means wear it again and again. Just make sure you change up the accessories to give it a fresh look. Personally I am going to pull all the stops out this year and go for all out sparkle. This dress has a flattering v-neck and requires little in the way of accessories (it may also require me to keep away from the buffet table but that's no bad thing - I'll make up for it on Christmas Day.) Add a fun faux fur bag and metallic strappy sandals. Whatever you choose, have a fantastic time and remember to have fun and be fabulous!
