A Top Night for TV

It was the BAFTA TV Awards last night so anyone who is anyone from the world of British television got their gladrags on and walked the red carpet. If I'm honest I think there were more hits than misses although those that did make the Best Dressed Lists did so in style.

There was a lot of embellishment which you either loved or hated and the sheer trend which had been evident at New York's Met Gala last Monday was a popular choice for many last night too. I think pulling off a sheer dress can be difficult as it can come across as a little too sexy for the red carpet. A demure Old-Hollywood look it isn't. Red was a popular choice too as it always is at awards ceremonies as was black.

My favourite looks of the night were Eleanor Tomlinson from Poldark in this exquisite dove grey Ralph Lauren gown. The colour offsets her red hair beautifully and the feather embellishment is just divine. Another hit for me was Millie Mackintosh. Her gown by Rami Al Ali has a hint of bridal about it and there is so much astonishing detail here from the cascading sheer front panel to the intricate lace all down the back.

Rounding up my top four were Alex Jones and Lucy Mecklenburgh. Alex Jones looked sensational in Cristallini. Alex normally plays it stylishly safe on the One Show (as is appropriate) but last night she took the opportunity to take it up a notch and sizzled in this form-fitting gown. Lucy looked beautiful in her Bambah gown too which was a stunning coral red. Accessorising with her white-suited beau, Louis Smith, Lucy looked every inch the film star.
