Getting Your Kicks

Love them or hate them, trainers are everywhere - and I'm not talking about the pairs you've just had to shell out eye-watering amounts for to satisfy the uniform requirements of small feet that will grow out of them in a nanosecond - no, I'm talking about 'trendy' trainers. Trainers that are gracing the pages of Vogue. I saw someone in a Chanel pair the other day and once Karl's doing it you know everyone will. Far from being just for sports or street wear they are now a wardrobe staple for all. Personally I struggle to wear them with anything other than jeans without images of women speed-walking to work in 80s New York in Nikes and skirt suits but I am trying to embrace the trend. After all, it's not often we women are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes in the name of fashion....

However the options are endless. There are literally thousands of colour and fabric combinations out there and you can even design and personalise your own courtesy of Nike-id. Here are a few pairs to be getting along with:

Pink - Adidas £67

Black suede and leopard - Golden Goose £260

Print - ASOS £20

Olive suede - SeaVees for J Crew £88

Grey wool with platform - Zara £39.99

Bronze snakeskin - New Look £19.99

Navy suede - New Balance at Urban Outfitters £70

Flowers - Vans £50

Not sure I'm quite ready to spend £260 on a pair but I'll give the olive suede pair a go. If I start to morph into Melanie Griffiths from Working Girl just blame the shoes.
