Coataholics Anonymous

My name is Clare and I'm a coataholic. There I've said it. I just can't seem to stop buying coats. Pink ones, check ones, belted ones, military ones, fur ones, 'just one more and then I'll stop' ones. One of these days I really will have enough coats but today is not that day so I thought I'd share some of my current favourites from the High Street with you. I must warn you that if you continue reading you too may end up with a coat addiction as I challenge anyone to choose just one of these. You have been warned....

First up we have this divine red number from M&S. I think M&S do fabulous coats year in, year out and this season is no exception. The belted style is great for creating a waist to balance the wide lapels. If red isn't your thing then try this green military style instead with a detachable faux fur collar.

Next stop Zara and these two coats are perfect for adding some texture and print into your wardrobe. This faux fur number is great as it's not too bulky so you get the look without the added volume. The cape is a sophisticated alternative to a coat and this tweed version is very on-trend. Wear with thin layers and keep your bottom half fitted. The faux fur collar is detachable.

Furry coat £59.99; Houndstooth cape £89.99 both from Zara

The camel coat is in every magazine under the sun at the moment and this version from Cos makes a change from the usual belted or crombie style. Camel is a difficult colour to pull off if you are blonde so wear with a scarf or have a collar poking out of the top. House of Fraser have recently introduced a new in-house range called Gray & Willow. This striped coat will do wonders for those with narrow shoulders.

It would be remiss of me not to go out and try all of these coats on (purely in the name of research of course) and sometimes in order to get a real idea of how great a coat is you have to buy it....and wear it....and then I won't be able to return it so I'll have to keep it. Just one more and then I'll stop.....promise.
